Killing Meeting Time

so i just have to ask... how many of you who are still technically in surf the net on your phone while at the meetings?.

Ipads were beginning to make an appearance when I was still attending as a study, so I took an ultra portable laptop along, a little bit bigger than a netbook. This was allegedly "so I'd have all my library with me, whatever was needed for the meeting". In reality I'd found out the access code for the hall's wireless router, so spent my time online and running as many bit torrents as possible.

I think I ate up so much bandwidth, people dialling in to the meeting by Skype were complaining about the sound breaking up and calls getting dropped.

Oh dear, how sad, never mind.

today i went on my instragram and realized that one of the jw "friends" i have on there didn't have any or her wt propaganda, and propaganda i mean pictures of her and all the children (under 10) she is studying with and helping to bring in the truth.

so i looked to see if she was still "following me" nope, so i looked to see if i was still "following her" nope, which means she blocked.

so then i go on to my jw facebook and she is no longer friends with me..... so now i know what you are thinking, she has blocked and unfrieded me because she saw my apostate video...or word finally reached her.....nope!

True, a goatee is the equivalent of tattooing "666" on your forehead. I grew mine whilst still officially a study, and still attending, deliberately to piss them off.

Can this logic be refuted?

i was an elder until march 2012 until i resigned.

i then stopped going to meetings in october 2012 and have enjoyed 9 months of freedom that i have found to be jouful!

i loved learning ttatt and sites like this and jwfacts.com have been excellent.. i told the elders that i needed a break and that they should not contact me unless it was a social visit and true to their word they have done that.

Trying to reason with the unreasonable is nothing but a waste of oxygen. Their priority is preserving the cleanliness of the congregation, i.e. maintaining the one-party state which tolerates no point of view other than their own as dictated by the (arse)holy GB. You will be considered a threat; a gangrenous limb to be cut off, and they'll cauterise the wound with your JC.

Use your new-found knowledge where it will be of most use, preventing others from buying into this BS. Those already in have to make their own minds up about it's falseness, if and when they're ready.

The sentiments are admirable, but ultimately it will be an exercise in futility that will only end badly. Probably with your expulsion, and all the fallout that accompanies it.

Accused of thinking too much

i've been officially accused of "thinking too much".. i've tried to quit thinking, but i'm hoplessly addicted to it.i just can't seem to turn my brain off.. at times duing my school years i was accused of not thinking enough.

now i'm guilty of thinking too much!.

the brother even went on to say "could you imagine what the witness organisation if everyone was thinking independently like you do"?

The one elder I liked & respected, an elderly elder rather than some who had barely gone through puberty, was actually a Cambridge graduate. I couldn't help but think, with a mind like that why are you here?

These are the impressions I have as one just on the peripheries of JW life, but as a detatched view it might have value. Despite all of the claims made that the elders are good shepherds, and only interested in the well being of the congregation, they aren't. That is a complete falsehood. The elders' priority is to protect the cleanliness and the integrity of the congregation. In other words, if you have said or done anything that makes them look bad, and people could find out about it, then they will cauterise the wound by your expulsion from their midst. You'll be thrown to the wolves all in the name of preserving the congregation and wider organisation. As for any support after the hearing, you can forget it, you'll be left to your own devices unless and until they think you've shown sufficient contrition to merit readmission.

In short watch your back. And remember, witnesses shoot their wounded.

I used to be accused of this constantly, but aren't us studies SUPPOSED to think? Aren't we supposed to meditate on what we've been told? The problem was, nobody made clear the distinction between "good" thinking and "bad" thinking. Trying to reverse engineer the doctrines and try to make some kind of sense out of them was apparently a "thoughtcrime". Does this mean I needed to lose a few dozen I.Q. points in order to be a good little JW?

just a thought, do the gb actually beleive they are gods chosen reps and truly beleive this crap or are they just in it for the power and the authority.

There are two possible scenarios:

1. They are "true believers" and actually do believe every word of the crap they come out with. This makes them fanatics, and dangerous.

2. They are nothing more than a bunch of corporate middle-managers, promoted beyond their abilities. They never thought they'd still be in "this system" and certainly never expected to finish up running the show. Now they have NO CLUE how to get out of the mess they find themselves in, have no new ideas that make an iota of sense and have no other option than try to maintain the status quo. For them, the alternative is too horrific to face. Any admission that they're wrong about anything, any erosion to their self proclaimed authority as god's mouthpiece, and their power base crumbles. If that happens, the whole decaying edifice that is the org comes down around their ears, and they have to face the consequences for all the lives they've damaged.

This makes them scared, and dangerous.
